2 Euro Commemorative Coin Portugal 2010 100th Anniversary of the Portuguese Republic The coin commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Portuguese Republic, established after the revolution of 4–5 October 1910 that ended the constitutional monarchy of King Manuel II. The Republic was proclaimed from the balcony of Lisbon’s city hall on the morning of 5 October. The design features the Portuguese coat of arms and the effigy of the Republic, the inscription "REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA 1910-2010", mintmark INCM, designer JOSE CÂNDIDO and twelve EU stars.
