2 Euro Commemorative Coin France 2011 30th Anniversary of the Day of Music The coin honours France’s Fête de la Musique, which has animated streets, squares and cultural venues with free concerts every 21 June since the early 1980s. The festival deliberately opened music to a broad public and gave both amateur and professional performers a place in public space. For its thirtieth anniversary, the issue links cultural policy with everyday culture: music is presented not only as stage art, but as a shared experience bringing people of different backgrounds together.
